Somalia and Ethiopia are entering a new phase of diplomatic and security cooperation, underscoring a growing alignment of political interests in the Horn of Africa.
Reliable sources report that Abdullahi Mohamed Ali is set to be reappointed as Somalia’s intelligence chief, following President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s decision to position the current chief, Mahad Salad, as the next President of Galmudug State.
Notably, the move is said to follow a directive from Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, reflecting Ethiopia’s active role in shaping regional dynamics. This development highlights a strategic rapprochement as both governments seek to consolidate stability, enhance intelligence coordination, and strengthen bilateral ties.
